Albinism between Stigma and Charisma: Varying Interpretations of Two Photographs from South Africa

Through the history of two photographs of young women with albinism, this article examines the changing perception and representation of albinism over the past decades. Long treated as a stigma in various ontological framings, albinism now undergoes a reinterpretation and accounts for the bearers’ charisma.
