Melanin Matters

Project Week on Skin Tone Differentiation in Lagos, Nigeria

29. Oktober – 5. November 2024
Goethe Institut, 7 Anifowosho Street, Lagos

We are thrilled to announce that the Goethe-Institut Lagos, the Nlele Institute, and the University of Mainz, Germany (CRC 1482 Human Differentiation) are collaborating on a fascinating project week called “Melanin Matters”.
"Melanin Matters," is a week-long series of events which focuses on the socio-cultural meanings of skin tone in Nigeria. It explores the current importance of skin, skin tones and skincare in Nigeria and will be hosted at the Goethe-Institut from October 29th to November 5th.

The program offers a range of activities like workshops, interactive discussions, and a film screening. With events tailored to women, young creatives, and the general public, the program will dive into how we differentiate one another by skin tone, exploring this from various cultural, social, and scientific angles.

Engage with diverse perspectives and connect with others in an inclusive environment. Don’t miss this opportunity!

All events take place at Goethe-Institut, 7 Anifowoshe Street, Victoria Island.
