Constructing Religious Diversity

Projects which map religious diversity have become popular across Europe and beyond. Engagement with these projects however shows that the empirical presence of religious difference requires some analogizing: before it become religious diversity: Religious diversity is thus better perceived as something 'constructed' than as something 'given'. In this talk, I will develop some of the empirical, theoretical and pedagogical consequences of this, based on my own engagement in the mapping of religious diversity in Aarhus, Denmark and my research on mosques in Denmark.
